Porto Katsiki Beach

You will have seen it in magazines and yearned to be there while gazing at photos on travel websites. But you will only enjoy Porto Katsiki, one of the most famous beaches in the world, if you come to Lefkada. It is a combination of seclusion, amazing deep blue waters, white pebbles, sea caves and surrounding cliffs that make this place so special, so unique.

The beach gets busy in summer with hordes of visitors who are not deterred by its remoteness, nor by the 100 steps they must descend to the beach (and then climb). Above the “port of goats,” so named because in the past it was believed only goats could reach it, there are parking spaces and canteens, while the fenced footpath leading down to the sea affords an incredible view. But no matter how tempted you are, don’t spread your towel at the water’s edge. As with most beaches along the west coast of Lefkada, your belongings will be at risk of a soaking whenever a boat passes!
