There are six beaches in Palaiokastritsa, on the western coast of Corfu, all with clear, turquoise waters and surrounded by lush greenery outstretched across large grey rocks. The pretty beaches are all well organized, with sun bed and umbrella rentals, cafes, tavernas and water sports.
However, the most popular activity here actually involves leaving the beach behind and getting into a kayak to take a waterborne tour along the shore, which is interspersed with little caves. The sea, which gets quite deep, is cool, about 15–18C in high summer, which makes it perfect for diving. Few activities can leave you feeling so reinvigorated while the sun is beating down.
